Jakob Aall Bonnevie Bjerknes (1897-1975) was a professor of meteorology at UCLA (1940-1965). He founded UCLA's Atmospheric Sciences Department. His research work focused on the importance of atmospheric fronts and initial formulation of polar front model, and global changes in the atmosphere. The collection consists of material relating to Bjerknes and his meteorologist father, Vilhelm. There are clippings, printed items, correspondence, photographs and memorabilia, papers by Jakob Bjerknes, awards, and materials regarding his memorial at UCLA, memorial lecture and fund.
